From Housing Opportunity Day to our participation in Habitat for Humanity’s Unlocking Homeownership, the recently concluded legislative session strengthened our ties with affordable housing advocates across the state, fostering a more robust movement for future sessions. Additionally, we engaged in efforts through statewide coalitions, Housing Oregon and the Oregon Housing Alliance, unifying our voices and aligning our missions on behalf of those we serve.
As a collective, we successfully advocated for key bills, including SB 5505, which facilitates the construction of new affordable rental homes; SB 5531, which emphasizes the importance of preserving existing affordable rental housing; SB 599, known as Fair Housing for All, which prohibits discriminatory practices in real estate transactions; and HB 2964, which addresses pre-development loans and grants for affordable housing projects. While there were some setbacks, we remain committed to advancing our work through advocacy and dedication.
We are proud of our team’s commitment and the alliances we have formed to help create vibrant and prosperous communities for all Oregonians. The journey toward prosperity continues at FHDC as we carry on our mission, 34 years in the making.
