Asset Building Update: OHCS Assigns FHDC Foreclosure Prevention Counselor Status

With a new team member joining FHDC earlier this year, new programs and services are on the horizon. Asset Building Manager, Jorge Alvarado, has been diligently working to put together the foundation to deliver homeownership support services. FHDC was recently given the news that Oregon Housing and Community Service (OHCS) has accepted FHDC as an official partner in the Homeowner Assistance Fund (HAF) program. As a state-approved housing counselor, FHDC will be able to assure more BIPOC homeowners are able to access the necessary funds to stay in their homes and prevent foreclosures.

If you know anyone behind on their mortgage payments, please share the great news. We are excited to soon be providing assistance in Spanish and English to make these services more accessible for our community. Everyone is welcome. Starting June 20th, we will begin accepting appointments for the Homeowner Assistance Fund. At this time, you can reach out to Jorge Alvarado, Asset Builder, at casa@fhdc.org or 503.902.0869 to set up an appointment.

FHDC will also be hosting a Homeownership Assistance Clinic on Saturday, June 25th from 11:00 AM – 5:00 PM in Woodburn (at Cipriano Ferrel Education Center). The HAF Clinic will support homeowners with assistance for figuring out the eligibility, filling in, and submitting paperwork. The event will also include informational presentations on foreclosure prevention by Oregon Housing and Community Services, and there will be  on-site foreclosure counselors available to speak with about anything related to foreclosure prevention and homeownership. The HAF Clinic will give priority to appointments, but drop-ins are welcome.

There are three slots to schedule appointments:

June 25 11 am – 5 pm

11 p.m., 1 p.m., 3 p.m.
